Part-time Role: Community Info Hub - Desk Advisor

HEART is looking for a competent, part-time Desk Advisor to join the team in our Community Info Hub at Hastings Town Hall.
The Info Hub is a great drop-in facility where anyone seeking help can talk face-to-face with someone trained in finding services to support them or assist them in other ways to overcome their challenges. Some can be easily resolved. Others can require intensive support, listening to the problems people may be facing, and helping them start a process of sorting things out.
The role can be very rewarding and will see you working with people where your help will make a real difference to their lives. Full training will be provided to equip you with the skills you may need, from active listening and how to have constructive conversations with people in sometimes stressful situations, to how to find and make referrals to other agencies where more expert assistance is required.
You will be working alongside the Info Hub Manager and our brilliant Info Hub team of volunteers.
Duties & Responsibilities
Work as part of the team staffing the Community Info Hub, providing information and support to people seeking help.
Make referrals to partner organisations if necessary.
Assist people with form filling/making calls or printing materials for them.
Assist people in using Info Hub computers when appropriate.
Record data on enquiry numbers, type and actions on our database
Liaise with partner organisations over issues arising.
Manage a rota of Info Hub volunteers.
Share responsibility for recruitment/management of new Info Hub volunteers.
Provide new Info Hub volunteers with training to enable safe & effective working.
Requirements
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Good active listening skills
Understanding of boundaries, confidentiality and safeguarding
Competence in computer technology
Good organisational skills
Access to & familiarity with use of home personal computer
Familiarity with online meeting software
Daytime availability
Preferred skills
Experience in a similar customer-oriented role.
Experience in managing databases.
Hours
The Desk Advisor role will remunerate 3 days’ work each week (total 18hrs), on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
In addition, the role will require an additional half day’s work (4hrs) on Saturdays each fortnight (to be arranged monthly, in advance).
Term
This role is currently contracted for 6 months. If additional funding becomes available, the term may be increased by mutual agreement.
Remuneration
Remuneration is set at £1305 per calendar month, to be paid monthly, by invoice, in arrears.
You will be responsible for arranging your own tax and national insurance.
The position also attracts a total of 6.5 days paid annual leave for the period of the contract.
